Ultra Cine to Premiere La Banda Picasso on Saturday, July 1, 2017

West Palm Beach, FL – June 28, 2017 – Ultra Cine, the HD movie network that focuses on award-winning and original films from Spain and Latin America in their original Spanish-language format, announced the network premiere of the riveting Spanish drama, La Banda Picasso, on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10 p.m. EST.

Based on the 1911 theft of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, also known as La Gioconda, La Banda Picasso follows the events that followed soon after the iconic masterpiece was stolen from the Louvre. The police and the international media were as baffled as everyone else, making it a priority to return the beloved painting back to the museum. Local authorities speculated that modernist enemies of traditional art were involved, and identified three foreigners as their main suspects: Polish avant-garde poet Guillaume Apollinaire, a young Belgian known as El Baron, and world-renowned painter Pablo Picasso.

“We are excited to premiere La Banda Picasso on Ultra Cine. This film depicts the aftermath of arguably the most famous art robbery in history,” stated Jesús Piñango, Director of TV Content Strategy at Olympusat. “This story directly involves two of the greatest artistic minds the world has ever seen, Leonardo da Vinci and Pablo Picasso, and showcases what happens when the unimaginable occurs and one of their paintings goes missing.”

Starring Ignacio Mateos, Pierre Bénézit and Raphaëlle Agogué, La Banda Picasso is a Colomo P.C. production, written and directed by Fernando Colomo. This captivating Spanish film received positives reviews and multiple award nominations, including Best Costume Design and  Best Original Song at the 2012 Goya Awards.
